I'm not completely happy with how things came out, but it seems decent enough.

I also realized last night after I posted it that I really should check on year-to-year correlation. My guess is that aOPS will still be more consistent than straight OPS. We'll see.

I do most of my graphs here in NCSS, which is a nice little stats package, as well as a decent graphing program for some purposes. I'm using NCSS 2000, which I purchased as a MS student back at Ohio. :) -j

Another great piece. They should face a huge assortment of fielders over the course of the year, and therefore variation in opposition fielding is likely to be a random thing--though it is true that if a players' division is particularly bad, all the hitters of that division would likely have an advantage in BABIP.

Obviously this is different in the case of pitchers, who always play with the "same" defense. :)

As far as Pete Rose goes, I'm not likely to do much on him, unfortunately. I only got to see him play for a few years at the end of his career, and so my knowledge of him is pretty weak. baseballminutia.com is a better source for historical Reds information, though I'm not seeing a lot of stuff about Rose in the archives. -j

Hello JinAZ:

Your explanation is interestin...

Hello JinAZ:

Your explanation is interesting, but remember that, there are nine defenses and they make plays incredible and they do not allow hits.

I from Nicaragua.
